Abstract Photography – Natural Patterns Collection
“Contemporary,” ”colorful,” and “creative” are words viewers use to describe “The Natural Patterns Collection,” a limited edition photographic series, as seen at WITF Public Media Center and shown on the set of “The Life of Maurice Goddard.”
At the heart of this collection is the fact that I love to experiment with my cameras and I love to be outdoors, exploring. A combination of technical knowledge of the camera and creative experimentation are the foundations of this work.
I play with shutter speed to use motion in photography. In addition to manipulating shutter speed, I work with nature to convey natural motion: a gentle breeze, a strong wind, fog, water. a gentle breeze or a strong wind.
Some times, I initiate the motion through panning, running, walking, skipping.
I also like to turn around things as a means of testing what we think we know. For example, flip ” Creekside” vertically. That’s how it was shot. But, I like it best as I present it.
Having a love of the Impressionists, I also like to interpret the light to make some of the photos in this series look like Impressionist paintings.
Some times, I like to show form, “as in Fallen Leaves.” Other times, I suggest form, such as with “Lilly Pond.”
“Water Blue” and other, yet to be presented, exposures in this series, are mostly abstract. With these, I try to use the titles as the clue to what I was thinking/seeing when I made them.
Limited edition prints are for sale. I sign and number on the simple, white mat, unless you prefer otherwise.
I print on professional photographic or art papers. All papers and mats are conservation quality, ensuring durability of the work.
